CHAD 60 26 Aug-21 Sept 09 DOMAINS OF DEVELOPMENT Physical 0 days-7.5 lbs, 6 mo- 15 lbs, 1 yr- 22 lbs babies need about 8 meals a day! immune system no immune system early on colostrum in breast milk gives large boost to immune system W.H.O. says breast-feed for 2-3 years babies born w/ certain set of reflexes (suck & swallow, dodging, etc) often be- come voluntary control over same muscles sets (you can choose wether to suck  and/or swallow) Cognitive thinking, reasoning, memory skills that would later connect w/ academic success ego-centrism (birth- approx. 5 years) explains why often children feel they caused a large event which occurred in their  environment (such as divorce or death) instant (ex: considering height and width, or your feelings and their feelings, simultan- eously) memory is very selective based on how interested they were in the event Social- Emotional exploration of body parts and control over own body realization of similarities and differences between self and others swings, etc) become personality guidelines (rather than I am nice, its I am a big girl  b/c I don’t need diapers) early interpersonal connections (anchors to parents, siblings, other caregivers) kids in founding homes w/ consistent caregivers were more able to root down into  relationships and form lasting connections than kids with transitory caregivers
