English 1B Sections 26 and 47 Spring 2010 Instructor: Moody English 1 B Research Paper Guidelines The final assignment of English 1B is the research paper. It is a paper informed by scholarly research and adheres to the MLA format for such papers. At our conference, you will be bringing your topic of choice from the list below and a list with three of the five required resources. Of the five required sources, only one may be online, excepting journals published online as well as in print. List this information in MLA format. A first draft (Essay #4) will be turned in for peer edits on March 18. Essay 4 revised is due April 8. The final essay (#6) is due on May 4. You will do a presentation of 5-7 minutes on this paper with handouts, overheads or powerpoint. The list of selections focuses on policies regarding such areas as education, that have shaped this diverse nation. You must have a thesis. Public policy is always a subject for debate. Take a stand.
