Know the following Val function, what does it do and how it works? o Keeps the program from crashing if a non number is entered. What a variable is… o A memory space that holds data for your application. The values stored in a variable are not necessarily seen by  users. Variables are important because they can be manipulated.   o It must be declared as Dim keyword Variable name can be any valid identifier Must set a data type o All have name, type, size, value o If you reuse the same variable then original value will be overwritten Different between a syntax and a logic error o Syntax is what starts the program. Code must be fixed before it executes o Logical error let you build and run, but you have no idea what its wrong with it o Differences between Do while…Loop and Do…Loop while o Do while…loop: checks condition before it executes the loop o Do…Loop: does the loop then check the conditions o What is meant by “off by one error” o Loop executes for 1 more time or 1 less time than needed o Often happens when programmer writes something like x<50 but means x<=50 o Not a syntax error. It’s a logic error o What is “option strict” o When set to on, disables narrowing conversion so you’ll get a syntax error.
