Introduction This mini-section should be a single paragraph that introduces readers to the topic and scope of your paper, including why it is of interest, and briefly lays out its central themes. Issue and Country This section should be a brief overview of the critical aspects of the general topic, the specific issue, and the particular country you are addressing. Relevant sources should be cited in the text throughout your paper using proper scholarly format as specified by the AAA Style Guide, including specific pages whenever possible (Friedman 2008:404-405), and also included in your bibliography. Note that names of authors are not included in the citation if they have already been mentioned in the lead-in to the citation; otherwise, the proper format would be (Friedman 2008:404-405). It should be several paragraphs in length. Geographic Demography This section should be a substantial summary of the major physical and demographic features that characterize the country. Key geographic points should include size and location, main features, climactic patterns, etc. Key demographic points should include total population, number and/or percent of principal population groups (on ethnic, linguistic, religious, social class, economic, or urban-rural bases), distribution around the country, etc. It should be several paragraphs in length. Political Economy This section should be a substantial summary of the major political and economic factors that characterize the country. Key political points should include the general nature of the government (such as democracy, socialism, communism, dictatorship, or monarchy), govern- 1

ment structure and operations, etc. Key economic points should include the general nature of the economy (such as wealthy, moderate, poor), total/per capita GDP (in terms of purchasing power parity), basic economic structure, leading sectors of economy, important economic trends, etc. It should be several paragraphs in length. Cultural Factors This section should be a substantial summary of how cultural factors (ethnic, linguistic, religious, gender, social class, economic class, urban-rural, etc) affect the issue in this country. Coverage does not have to be comprehensive, but should include at least a couple of key points
