English 1B Sams section 39 2/27/07 My Father Everyone can relate to life and the hardships that are involved. The most heart-felt stories we remember today are of those who have persevered and overcome the greatest obstacles of life. If it truly a lesson to be learned when the story is heard from the person who experienced the ordeal. My father, Houshang Vala, is a fellow immigrant who began his life in Iran. I was born in America, so I can not relate to his stories. However, the story of how my father came to America is an absolute adventure. I truly feel that my father is one of a kind. In his lifetime, he had to undergo many challenges that we may think similar to other immigrants, however, the intriguing component begins with his reasons to leave Iran in the first place. This trend of immigration is fairly common to many of us, but my father lived through one of Iran’s most unforgettable historical events which lead to his migration. My father was born and raised in Tehran, Iran, the capital of Iran. He had three older sisters, one older brother, and one younger brother. He was considered to be one of the scholars of the family, because he attended college after high school. After four years
