Demonstration Speech Assignment Purpose The Primary purpose of speaking is to help clarify a complex process, idea, or event for your audience. In other words, in this approximately 5 minute speech, you are to demonstrate (or teach us) how to do something; what you choose to demonstrate can be as simple or as complicated as you like, however: (1) it should represent and aspect or your cultural background, and (2) it should be something that your audience will find relevant (i.e. something they might actually be able to do or want to do upon hearing your speech). Keep in mind that effective use of visual aids will likely help your audience better understand and learn what you choose to demonstrate. Requirements The speech should be 3-5 minutes . Delivery is to be extemporaneous. Use up to one note card. The introduction and conclusion should be fully developed. There should be a definite, logical transition bridging each component of the speech. Each main point should be clearly stated, developed, and tailored to provide understanding of
