GEOGRAPHY 124, Spring 2009: Take-home Test 1. You might want to use the Word file provided online, and type each answer beneath the question or term. Print out the document and bring it to class by March 11. If you cannot come to class on that day, email the test to gpereir1@gmail.com by March 11. NAME: Address the following questions (5 points each). Do not copy and paste text from the chapters. 1. Briefly describe the differences between the three photosynthetic processes (C3, C4, CAM). 2. Why is the term ‘food web’ currently used, rather than ‘food chain’? 3. Describe the taxonomic, ecological, and trophic biological hierarchies. Are these approaches to structuring biological entities fundamentally incompatible? Why or why not? 4. Describe the three main definitions of ‘species’ in use today. 5. Would you expect to find some correlation between organisms that are euryphagous and those that are generalist? Is a euryphagous organism necessarily a generalist organism? 6.
