Listen • Speak • Engage Kahn – COMM 100W  Prompts for writing a Book Review Essay Choosing a Book 1. Must be a “weighty” work of non-fiction that conveys ideas , not a simple history or biography. 2. Must deal with a subject that would allow you to do further research in academic journals. 3. Remember that you will be writing 9-15 pages for this final paper, so make sure you choose a book that has enough weight and complexity that you’ll be able to do that. 4. You’ll be spending a lot of time on this final assignment. If you choose to write a book review essay, make sure you choose a book that really interests you. Writing the Book Review Essay  (You will not necessarily use all these prompts. You may write about ideas not included in these prompts. They are provided to help you get started.
