I John Wmthrop A Model ofClzristia:n Chariiy, 1630 Thus stands the cause between GDd and us: we are entered :into covenant with Him for this work; we have taken out a coIl1J.Dission, the lDrd hath given us leave to draw out our own articles. We have professed to enterprise on these actions upon these and these ends; we have hereupon besought Him of favor and blessing. Now if the ~rd shall please to hear us and bring us in peace to the place we desire, then hath He ratified tills covenant and se:aled our Commission, [and] ",ill exp€ct a strict p<~rfD:rmance of the articles contained:in it.
