It suggests some appropriate tools and some recommended materials on China, India, and Asia in general to help you get started in your research. a specific journal title (for example, Journal of Asian Studies ) and find out which databases contain full-text articles for that particular journal title. You can also browse databases by subject area. Databases: http://www.sjlibrary.org/research/databases/index.htm Here you can find databases for your subject area by clicking the link at the top of the Databases page, then going to the link for Asian Studies or whatever subject area you would like to search in. You can also select a database directly from the list on the Databases page. The following are some of the best databases to use for accessing humanities journals in general, and Asia-related journals in specific: · JSTOR : An electric archive of about eighty core scholarly journals in Anthropology, Asian Studies, Economics, , History, Literature, Philosophy, and other key subject areas. Maintains a "moving wall" of two to five years between journal publishing date and date of availability; emphasis on backfile. · Expanded Academic Index (formerly InfoTrac Web ): Offers full- text articles from about 1,500 journals in all major fields of study, including the humanities. Coverage extends from 1980 to the present. · ABI/ Global Image: Another full-text article source covering major magazines and journals. Emphasis on business and economics. · Wilson OmniFile Full Text Mega Edition: A multi-disciplinary database carrying over 2,800 journals. It carries full-text articles from 1994; journals are indexed back to 1982.

· Lexis/Nexis Interactive Universe: A good source of full-text newspapers, magazines, and transcripts of other news media extending back more than twenty years. Bound Journals The following is a list of journals that deal specifically with Asia. They are located in the bound periodicals section on the third floor . You can click on a journal's call number link for its specific availability.
