Sundial A: The most important reason for the sundial and the clock display inconsistent time is because they have different definition of what time means. Initially, the sundial measures time depend on the sun and it will change the time measurement while the position also changes on the earth. When the sun is at the position of the Earth's meridian, it means that the time displayed on the sundial is noon, which means that the sundial measures the “apparent solar time”. However, the clock as a modern tool for measuring and recording time can measure time without relying on the sun. And because the unit of clock measurement time can be accurate to seconds, minutes and hours, the accuracy of the measurement is high, so it can be adjusted to the standard
