Your job is to try to spot as many errors as you can! Berkowitz & Lepage (1967) designed a study to test the hypothesis that individuals who are in a state of anger are more likely to act out their aggression if cues associated with violence and aggression are present. The sample consisted of 100 male students from the University of Wisconsin who were all enrolled in an introductory level psychology course. This study used an experimental research method because it manipulated the independent variable and presumably involved random assignment (although this was not stated in the text). Samson, Kelly, Billingsworth, Smith, Smith, et al. (2010) designed a similar study to test the frustration- aggression hypothesis. In this paper, they state that “there is an association between frustration and aggression, but the extent of this relationship needs to be investigated” (Samson & et al., 2010). William Summerson & Sarah Bennitt replicated this study.
