ISBN 0324833784    Course Objectives: This course is designed to give students an overview of the American legal system and how it operates. The structure of the courts, legislatures, and the dispute resolution process will be explored. The effect that laws and the legislative processes have on business will also be addressed, including the impact of law on contracts, employment, business organizations and intellectual property. Additionally, the ethical and social repercussions of these areas will be debated. Course Structure: Students are an integral part of this course and are expected to be fully prepared for each class session and to actively contribute to class discussions and issue debates. Because the effect of law and the legal system is undergoing virtually constant change, all perspectives bearing on important issues will be sought.
