Midterm Topic Priority List. Chemistry 102 Bring: Pencil or two, with Eraser Calculator Exam Structure : All Multiple Choice, with bubble sheet for answers. ~30 questions (?) Balanced, but slightly more on Ch 13 (?) 150 course points. A periodic chart will be on the quiz. Equations on first page. Comprehensive coverage of subjects. Easy, medium, medium+, and harder questions. Medium + and Harder questions are usually more numerical. Pay attention to plot axes, labels, curves. (~4-6 in med+ or harder, rest split between easy and medium difficulty). The median score will probably be 70-75%. Median is a ~ B grade. KEY TOPICS, Chapter 10: Most important: 1. Lewis Dot Structures 2. Formal Charge 3. VSEPR models 4. Bond Dipoles and electronegativity trends. 5. Resonance (identify cases) 6. Bond length trends 7. Bond energies and enthalpies of reaction, heats of formation KEY TOPICS, Chapter 11: 1. Hybrid orbitals and VSEPR relationship 2. Pi and Sigma bonds 1
