EML 6154 HW 4 Due Friday 10/2 (A) Work the following problems in Chapter 3: 7, 12, and 17 in text. (B) A solid cylinder of length L and radius b has the following boundary conditions: The cylinder end at z = 0 is maintained at temperature T 1 , while the cylinder end at z = L is perfectly insulated. The cylinder surface at r = b dissipates heat by convection into an environment at T with convection coefficient h . Let the z-direction be homogeneous. Obtain an expression for the steady-state temperature distribution T(r,z). (C) Consider a solid cylinder as shown in the figure below. The cylinder is of radius R and of height H, and may be considered perfectly insulated along the outer edge at r=R.
