Lynch, David NETW310, Professor Nzimiro 16May10 Lab #3, Terminating Category 5e UTP Cable Lab Report Write 2 - 4 paragraphs outlining the steps in terminating a CAT5e cable to a connector. (30 points) Strip approximately one inch of CAT5 sheathing back to expose the inside pairs of wires. Take extra care not to cut or nick the inside wires. Untwist and straighten the four pair of wires. Arrange them in the following order from left to right; white-orange, orange, white-green, blue, white-blue, green, white-brown, brown. Trim the pairs back to no more than 1/2 inch of the wires are exposed above the sheathing. Ensure the cables are trimmed evenly. Insert the wires into the connector end with the clip facing down. Push the wires all the way in until they are firmly making contact with the end of the connector. You can look at the tip of the connector to make sure the cables are all the way in. Make sure the sheathing has been pushed inside the connector and is under the tab which will grip the cable and hold it in place. Insert the
