Ethnic Studies 1C Spring 2010 Assignment #1 Race is often interpreted in media as a natural or biological category that evokes controversy, discussion, and conflict. In examining how we understand race today, use racial formation to discuss how race has been socially constructed. Address how law, myth, and science have worked alongside the construction of citizenship to produce a racial identity, and how race intersects with gender, sexuality, class, and/or religion.
