Catholicism in a Nut Shell 2 This informative essay I will be covering the Roman Catholic Faith. This religion is based on the ideology that Jesus made Peter the foundation of his church. History has shown us that Peter was the first pope of the Roman Catholic Church. So technically the Roman Catholic Church would be considered the first Christian Church. However, this is a very controversy topic that has been debated amongst historians for a very long time. Within this informative essay I have included an interview from the local director of religious education from Saint Mary’s Catholic Church. Name: Saint Mary’s Catholic Church Location: Unionville, Missouri. When I first arrived at this church to have this interview it was pretty large and made of stone looking walls. In addition it also had very large and beautiful stained glass windows with depictions of the last supper and St. Michael fighting Lucifer. This really set the mood for an interview of the Catholic faith. This church seems to abide by Roman Catholic Dogma that has been set up through years of traditions and beliefs that have been passed down from the pope to the cardinals and onto the priest. The interview was consisting of ten questions that I personally thought would provoke the thought process of the candidate that I chose. The first question that I asked was where did this faith actually started. This question was simple and allowed for the candidate and I to build the rapport needed to go further in-depth with tougher questions. The rest of the questions was where did the name come from, why is the pope the leader, what are some of the cultural pressures that have caused changes in this faith, teaching new people, how does it differ from Hinduism, why are priest single, would I be sinning not to attend this

Catholicism in a Nut Shell 3 building, major rules of this religion and last what foreseeable changes are in store for this religion. All of these questions in this interview are based on the interviewee’s opinion. The beginning of the interview between Regina D.R.E whom is the Director of Religious Education for the Saint Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and I was a bit surprising. I have found out that the church started when Jesus Christ died. His death was the actual beginning of this religion. The Catholic Church also teaches the life of Jesus so that people may understand the path that Jesus took to be able to save us from our sins. Jesus had the choice on whether or not He wanted to die to save us. It is also believed that he also had the knowledge from his birth that he would die to save the world. However Jesus still needed to make this choice for himself. Jesus was even tested every step of his journey. The name of this religion came about whenever people started separating from the church
