April Mazur I Am Man! “Eat like a man!” says a Burger King commercial from earlier this year promoting their latest product, the Texas Double Whopper. This commercial uses this bribe to convince men they need to buy and eat this burger in order to do this. Burger King takes advantage of the stereotype of masculinity to persuade their targeted audience, men, to buy the product. The commercial starts out in a restaurant with a man and a woman eating at a table together. They are then both served plates with very little food on them and when the man sees this he gets up and starts singing about how he’s a man and “way too hungry to settle for chick food.” The camera then begins showing different shots of men singing about being hungry and being a man because they are eating the Texas Double Whopper. Along with the lyrics the men are shown performing masculine activities and feats, for example a man pulling a large bus by chains in order to reach the burger and another punching the cement to make it crack. The commercial ends with the phrase,
