Amy Callaway  Professor Howells English 5730 Final Proposal  I have probably spent more time coming up with a topic for this paper than it  will take to actually write it. My ideas ranged from speech to visual to commercial  rhetoric. Rhetoric is abundant; It cannot be avoided as Heimrich dually notes in his  book. The trouble is finding a piece that provokes interest and  not only makes use of  various rhetorical strategies but illustrates how form makes meaning.  I normally do not have time to spend staring at a television set but last week  during a break from my guilty pleasure glee a commercial aired that is sure to  change the way society perceives ‘that time of the month’. A feminine hygiene com- pany, Kotex, has launched a new marketing campaign they are calling U by Kotex.  The ads blatantly mock the tampon commercials we have grown accustom to over
