Amy Callaway  Professor Howells English 5730 April 23, 2010 Final Draft  The speaker asks , “How do I feel about my period?”, repeating a question the  audience assumes she was asked moments before. She then hesitates before answering  (hypophora). Her answer is convincingly natural as her thoughts flow easily from one to  the next. This beautifully demonstrated rhetorical strategy is sprezzatura, a rehearsed  spontaneity when speaking. Sprezzatura supports a speakers credibility and therefore in- directly the ethos of the company she represents. The appeal to ethos is exhausted in both Kotex advertisements. Credibility is established  for not only the speaker but the company she represents. The advertisement applies paralepsis, a rhetorical device where the speaker seems to  pass over the point he/she is trying to make. By stripping away the rhetoric and speaking  bluntly about how mainstream commercials persuade you with their rhetorical skill set.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
