Write a summary equation for photosynthesis o 6 CO 2 + 6 H 2 O + light energy C 6 H 12 O 6 + 6O 2 Describe the structure of leaves and chloroplasts (listing all membranes and compartments) o Leaf Epidermis- outside of leaf Cuticles- waxy waterproof covering that reduces evaporation of water from leaf Stomata- pores that open and close to allow carbon diocide into the leaf Mesophyll cells- contain the vast majority of chloroplasts Vascular bundles- veins, supply water and minerals to mesophyll and carry the sugar produced by it o Chloroplast Stroma- semi-fluid material inside chloroplasts; light independent reactions occur here Thylakoids- disk-shaped, interconnected membranous sacs embedded in the stroma Grana- stacks of thylakoids. Singular grana; light dependent reactions occur here Describe the two main stages of photosynthesis in general terms
