• Sound Editor must be able to lay the soundtracks • The Mixer must be able to rehearse and refine his sound mix to perfection. • A synchronizing code is needed to achieve this high degree of accurate synchronization between the various audio sources and the picture.

• Film uses sprocket holes and gears for timing. A mechanical based system. • Electronic systems of both video and audio use a standard electronic code - timecode . • On DAW’s, proprietary timecoding systems can be used. It can be a reference code to cue files to play when needed. • All timing systems need to conform to internationally agreed upon systems.
