WRT 101 Summer 2010 Dr. Susan San Jule Itzel Rodriguez July 6, 2010 Scholarship Having played soccer ever since I was a young girl, I've been naturally instilled with an elevated sense of determination. Many would think having an uncle as a coach would create an environment where favoritism would inevitably choose me as its host. This, however, was not the case. Ironically favoritism was not in my favor. While my teammates lounged and took their water breaks, I was forced to promptly and rigorously run laps around the field because according to the coach, I was the worst player on the pitch. Every time he had the chance to chew me out he would make sure to do so in front of all the other players, hoping to make an example out of me. This was utterly embarrassing but motivated me to keep pushing forward in the hope of ultimately reaching my utmost potential, which was his initial goal. Those years playing soccer taught me hard work, determination, and sacrifice. These are all traits I use in every aspect of my life and I believe they will help me get through any obstacle I encounter.
