Itzel Rodriguez Lab Summary #4 The purpose of this lab was to learn the different parts of the microscope as well as learn how to properly use it. First we were to learn the different parts of the microscope that way it would be easier to follow the directions given to us. Before we could actually start looking at a specimen through the microscope we had to learn how to use it that way when we actually looked at specimen it would be more effective. We had to learn what knobs did what and which one would give us a more clear view of the specimen. To start us off we used a slide with three different cross fibers that had three different colors. We practiced moving the different knobs to give us a better view. Then we had to draw what we saw. Once we were more familiar with the microscope we were able to look at actual specimen. We were able to look at a human blood smear. Once we were able to focus the lens and able to see the blood smear more clearly, we drew what we saw. There was no real question for this lab. It was used to help us get comfortable with using

Unformatted text preview: a microscope, something that it necessary in biology. It was necessary to do this lab that way when we get to the interesting things we would have to worry about using the microscope instead we can focus on our actual task. It’s essential to learn how to use a microscope especially when we are looking at cells which is crucial to better understand biology. Next week’s lab has to do with looking and learning about human cells as well as plant cells. It will be more useful to see the cells for ourselves instead of just looking at multiple boring pictures. Microscopes are used for many more different things in biology, chemistry, and many other sciences. It gives us the opportunity to get a closer view of what makes the world the way it is and that, I think, is amazing. I was curious to know what is used so view an atom and if there are many instruments that could that? Itzel Rodriguez...

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
