Personality testing helps to portray aspects of a person's character that remain stable all through one's life, the person’s character arrangement of behavior, thoughts, and feelings are measured with different theories and tests. Personality theories suggest that a human being develops their personality based on their environment, behavioral and social learning, traits, psychoanalytic, and humanistic views. To determine personality theories psychologist may use idiographic and nomothetic techniques. According to the multiple theories provided by the many theorists over the years, psychodynamic theories suggest that behavior is the result of psychological dynamics within the individual (Axia 2005). Humanistic personality theories are an individual need to strive for perfection. Trait theories suggest that each person possesses a unique constellation of fundamental personality traits (Axia 2005). Cognitive-social learning theories view behavior as the result of the interaction between cognition, learning, past experience, and immediate surrounding environment (Axia 2005).
