The team concept for the Fighter Wing Honor Guard is imperative for the mission to work
and succeed.
The team concept is built around each and every member of a funeral detail and
each person has a role.
“A team is a group of individuals with complementary skills who depend
upon one another to accomplish a common purpose or set of performance goals for which they
hold themselves mutually accountable” (Brown, 2011, pg. 261) Each and every member that has
a role sacrifices something for the better good of the team.
According to Brown (2011) many
management theorists think that this is the wave of the future. (pg. 262)
This is all done with the
help of organizational development and the need for this team to be developed. .
Organization development (OD) comprises the long-range efforts and programs aimed at
improving an organization's ability to survive by changing its problem-solving and renewal
processes. OD involves moving toward an adaptive organization and achieving corporate
excellence by integrating the desires of individuals for growth and development with
organizational goals. (Brown, 2011, pg. 4) The need for team development in the Honor Guard
