Neonatal Nurse I would like to work as a neonatal nurse. It is an amazing profession full of challenges as well as rewards. Neonatology deals with the growth and development of newborns. A neonatal nurse has the duty of treating patients as well as educating the parents about the medical conditions and provide advice and emotional support to family members. There are three levels of working as a neonatal nurse. The first level is caring for healthy newborns. The second level is caring for newborns that may need intermediate care or special care nursery because they are either premature or suffering from an illness. They may need oxygen, intravenous therapy, specialized feeding or more time to mature before they leave the hospital. The third level and most challenging is caring for newborns who are in intensive care unit during the first 28 days of life who cannot be treated in either one of the other two levels.
