Page 1 of 3 THE HONG KONG UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering ELEC 151 Laboratory 4-2 Flip-Flops and Sequential Logic II Grading: s This lab accounts for 3.5% of your overall grade. A) Objectives: 1. Study the design and implementation of a counter with beginning offset and limit. 2. Familiarize with a commonly available type of synchronous binary counters. 3. Learn how to display binary data in a human readable format. B) Pre-lab Assignments: 1. Read through the lab manual and relevant component specifications. 2. Design the two counter circuits required and draw the schematics with all parts like IC, LEDs and resistors. Also, read through the specifications and determine the connections for any unused input pins, e.g. 74LS47 pin3 LT (lamp test). C) Hardware Requirement: s Breadboard s 555 timer IC s 0.1 μ F, 1 μ F capacitors s 330 Ω , 470K Ω resistors, s LEDs and two 7-Segment Display (common Anode), s 74LS00 (Quad 2-input NAND)
