1 Yhoumonyhen Aitken Instructor: Dr. Kristin H. Kain NSCI 110: Origins of the Cosmos 5 April 2020 Having a Christian background, I found this reading very interesting and eye-opening. From the studying of this week's reading, I learn about the life of George Lemaître, a prolific Belgian astronomer a Psychiatrist he also happened to be a devout Roman Catholic priest. Blitz from the Gizmodo website writes Lemaître proved that religion and science were two ideals that didn’t have to be enemies [ CITATION Mat14 \l 1033 ]. How our universe came into existence is the most common topic of debates between religion and science. Lemaître came up with a groundbreaking theory “On the end of the World from the standpoint of Mathematical Physics” as a guide [ CITATION Mat14 \l 1033 ] . During the reading I learned about the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). According to Cox & Cohen the CMB carries with it an image of our universe as it was just after its birth, knowing this discovery has provided key evidence that the beginning really did start with the Big Bang [ CITATION Cox11 \l 1033 ].
