Unformatted text preview: F IRST TRY: Higher education has received much criticism throughout its history, challenging who deserves to be in higher education, how many people are able to get into the university and whether or not women should be allowed to get the same education and treatment as white men in society. Adrienne Rich makes a very clear statement of explaining why students are here and how they should be interpreting their opinion of how to think about higher education. For example, The first thing I want to say to you who are students, is that you cannot afford to think of being here to receive an education: you will do much better to think of being here to claim one. The quote from Rich falls under Logos, she uses the quote to make people think about their reasons for being at the university and to look at it in a more optimistic way that you must earn your education rather that having it just handed to you....
