1 // Please use this as a reference and compile your own answer with its help // Best  regards // // Honest Abe // 1. What measures for disease prevention that were used historically should be  used today? Why do you think some were discarded as preventive measures?   2. What is the difference between disease and illness? 1) During the early 1800s those that lived in the urban cities would probably have chosen  what was termed conventional medicine for their health care. During that time most of  the medical practice by physicians was based on what was called a theory of Four  Humors. Humors were considered the four main illnesses that people suffered from they  were hot/fever, cold/chills, acid and alkaline. The health journals or papers of those days  that physicians wrote were mainly discussion of various theories and ideas about nature.  These were often based on precedent instead of scientific evidence. This precedent was  accepted as truth until another theory or circumstance proved otherwise (WDM, 2009).  Midwives were enlisted to care for prenatal, pregnant, and postnatal women in the  1840s. Many were perceived the equivalent of a physician at that time. Though the  physicians would not officially recognize the Midwives and allow them to draw a salary  for their services. As the doctors in that day placed their hands or medical equipment  within a woman’s body, they did not comprehend that her health was being  compromised. Today the American Medical Assoc. does recognize this fact and that an
