Discussion Question One - Week Eight YOUR NAME HERE AxiaCollegeUniversity of Phoenix ETH 125 Instructor, xxxxxx DATE HERE If someone made the below statements to you, how would you explain that the statements are misconceptions? Include whether you think most Americans believe these misconceptions, and why or why not. o Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are a model minority. o Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders belong to a single “Asian American” culture. In Chapter 12 of Racial and Ethnic Groups, Tenth Edition, by Richard T. Schaefer (2006), it states, “Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are a diverse group that is one of the fastest-growing segments of the U.S. population. Asian Americans often are viewed as a model minority that has successfully overcome discrimination.” However, this image is inaccurate. I believe that the most Americans do not adjudicate that Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders are the singular: “Asian American” culture. How can Asian-Americans and Pacific Islanders be the framework for a solitary group? Asia is expansive and is home to a profusion of countries.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
