Anthony, although you may have not have thought the phrasing of your discussion came off in an offensive manner, it can mildly be perceived that way by others. First, you started by saying: “ At a company conference I saw this business lady give a presentation on etiquette. I was surprised because she had a lot of good things to say…I figured business etiquette would be really corny but believe it or not she actually had some good pointers.” This can be construed as sexist in the way that someone else can perceive this as you were surprised a female had something good to say about business etiquette. Then you closed with: “ I recommend that any man who wants to advance in the business world should seriously consider brushing up on his etiquette, just like I did. It really works !” This can be viewed as sexiest also because it can be taken as only men can advance in the business world. Although I was not offended by what you wrote, others can be and this is something to consider
