Purpose:The purpose of this lab is to explore the different applications that various types of chains/sprockets are able to perform. For exercise 2, we observed how two sprockets which are linked with a chain respond to their respective rotations. We recorded observations to determine the speed/power relationship between the driven and the driver.Procedure:1.Locate chain/sprocket specifications from indices2.Record findingsExercise 2:1.Initiate driver motor2.Record chain number, driver sprocket number, and driven sprocket number3.Record number of teeth on driven and driver sprockets, as well as the central distance4.Observe the ratio between the driven and the driver by counting revolutions in 3 speed trialsResults: The results of this procedure will be attached directly after this memo.Conclusions:Chains are extremely versatile as a method of driving an object, however, they are not very efficient and make an ample amount of noise.
