Max Spinner FP02 1. The Expense Tracking System (ETS) is an application of advanced technology. This program allowed operators at the Tiger Creek paper mill to look at the expenses associated with the production expenses. The goal of the system was to find out where people were losing money, and how they could better save. The ETS changed the workplace for the operators. At first, they loved the system. They felt like it gave them more control and purpose in the company. They were finding ways to make the company more efficient. Eventually, however, they grew to develop a disdain for the project. This was because the managers were taking credit for all the successes the operators had surmounted by using the ETS. The operators were so annoyed with the behavior of the managers that they decided they would rather do without the ETS than have the managers take responsibility for the success and blame them for the failures. This also led the operators to do most of their experimenting at night when the managers were gone. Lots
