1 Tutorial School What is IELTS? IELTS is accepted by the majority of Australian, British, Canadian, Irish, New Zealand and South African academic institutions, by many academic institutions in the United States, and also by various professional organisations. IELTS is also accepted by Australia, New Zealand and Canada for immigration purposes. The test is now recognised by over 6,000 organisations worldwide; and more than 1.25 million candidates sit the exam each year. The Test The IELTS test is in four sections; listening, reading, writing and speaking, and lasts for approximately 3 hours. Candidates receive their scores within two weeks, giving them a band score of between 1 (no language ability) to 9 (native-speaker level language ability). Why is it important to do an IELTS Preparation Course? Many IELTS candidates do not get the band score that they should because they are not familiar with the IELTS Test format.
