SIT281 INTRODUCTION TO CRYPTOGRAPHY 2010 TRIMESTER 2 PRACTICAL SESSION 1 WEEK 1 The practical classes are designed to help you learn the material in the unit and become comfortable with the corresponding functions and their uses. You can write information directly onto the prac sheet in the lab and save a copy to a file or print a copy to write on. It is strongly recommended that you keep these prac sheets for assistance in assignments and with studying for the examination. Throughout the semester, we will be using Maple software for the practical classes for SIT281. Most of you will not have used Maple before. It is on the machines in the labs at Burwood and Geelong and can be downloaded from DSO using the instructions in the ‘How to Install Maple’ file. The purpose of this first practical is to let you get used to working with Maple, learning the style and some simple commands, and then to apply this to some cryptographic examples which can be found in Appendix B of your textbook. Bring your textbook along to all pracs in case you need to check something.
