Stage of Masters and Johnson Sexual Response Cycle Male Experience and Anatomy Female Experience and Anatomy Excitement Phase In the excitement phase the heart rate increases, blood pressure increases, and so does the mytonia increase. With the younger men the vasocongestion at the excitement phase may produces penile erection as early as 3 to 8 seconds after the stimulation begins. During erection in older men it may be slowly, but the responses are essentially still the same. In the excitement phase the heart rate increases, blood pressure increase, and so the myotonia increases. With the females the vaginal lubrication might start 10 to 30 seconds after the stimulation begins. In the excitement phase the vasocongestion swells the clitoris, as well as flattens the labia majora
