Class Hours:

Office Hours:
Monday and Thursday, 12:30-2:00 PM, Room 229 SAH
Text:
The text we will be using is “Biology”
eighth edition
, edited by Campbell, Reece,
Urry, Cain, Wasserman, Minorsky, and Jackson, published by Pearson/Benjamin
Cummings.
Lecture Notes/Visual Aids
:
I like to use PowerPoint presentations mainly because my
handwriting and drawing ability on the board is not great.
While you may think that I
force you to memorize a lot of minutia,
Biology, as a course, requires a lot of
memorization.
You must understand that this is a
SURVEY COURSE
which means I
will give you
a lot of information about a lot of topics
.
The idea is to get you
interested in some aspect of biology so that you will want to take more advanced
courses on individual topics.
I will post the PowerPoint presentations on St. Johns
Central prior to the lecture so that you can follow along and take notes next to the
slides.
The lectures, textbook, and the PowerPoint presentations will be my guide in
preparing examinations.
Discussion
:
There are no discussion sections for this course and the short lecture
times and extensive curriculum does not leave much room for discussion.
However,
I
will stop and answer all questions you might have during the lecture
.
There are
other ways of asking me questions if you think of one after class.
You may send me an
email or you may post your question on the course message board on SJ Central.
