Playstation 3 2 Playstation 3 Marketing Mix is compromised of four sections. These sections include product, price, place and promotion. (Kerin, Hartley, Berkowitz) To successfully inform the target market to understand your product, and build the desire to own it, one must have a well developed marketing mix. If you ask any person who plays video games, or has a child that plays video games, what a Playstation is, they will be able to tell you it is a video game consol. People, who are really invested in such an interest, are called “gamers”. These people are of all ages and gaming experience levels. Gamers are familiar with different video game systems, know and appreciate quality video, sound, response time and gaming options. Ask any gamer, what game consol they want, and most will say Playstation 3. This console is widely available at all major department stores as well as Amazon and Fry’s.com is based priced around $300. With numerous available options over the competitors, this price is fair. Their advertising slogan is “it only does everything”. There main choice of promotion is television. This makes sense since their main focus is marketing graphic ability of the gaming system. Better graphics allow gamers to relate better to the game. The more real it looks, the more believable, engaging, and fun it is. PS3 features Blue ray compatibility for a higher graphic ability than other gaming consoles. Playing with other gamers online is also desirable to improve the friendly competition levels and experiences. Playstation offer their own network where game players can log in and play with other people around the world, or with their neighbors from home. Having their own network, players no longer have to rely on the game developer to include the online gaming option.

Playstation 3 3 Instead, Playstation has made it available through their system, and has widened the online gaming experience to other games that didn’t originally have that option. This is impressive since it takes the online ability away from strictly the game’s developer’s choice, and allows virtually every game the ability to be played online with other gamers. Not only has it taken that historical step to online gaming, it also can play videos, pictures, or music on a built-in Blu-ray High-Definition disc player. The PS3 also enables you to play games online, download game and entertainment content, purchase music and games, as well as transfer downloaded games to the PSP (Playstation Portable). Not only is playing games online with others a sought out feature, being able to download older games to the newer system is nice as well. Playing a “blast from the past” is always fun for reminiscing. The PS3 also has the most able system that features seven microprocessors on one chip, allowing it to perform several operations at once. It also has 60GB hard drive, Wi-Fi wireless internet, and the ability to read various flash ram cards. With all this hardware and capabilities, their marketing strategy is unexpectedly simple
