ANALYSIS OF VITAMIN C ABSTRACT: IN THIS LABORATORY EXPERIMENT, THE TRIIODIDE ION WAS USED  AS AN OXIDIZING AGENT. THE TRIIODIDE ION WAS STANDARDIZED BY ADDING A  SMALL KNOWN AMOUNT OF POTASSIUM IODATE (1.0564 G) IN AN EXCESS OF KI AND  H 2 SO 4 . THE KNOWN EXCESS OF THE TRIIODIDE ION (0.001481 MOLES) GENERATED  FROM   THE   REACTION   OF   IODATE   WITH   IODINE   WAS   THEN   REACTED   WITH   THE  ABSORBIC ACID. THE ABSORBIC ACID USED FOR THIS LABORATORY EXPERIMENT  WAS   TANG.   THE   EXCESS   I 3 -   WAS   THEN   BACK   TITRATED   WITH   THIOSULFATE  SOLUTION, WITH THE USE OF STARCH TO FORM A COLOR CHANGE INDICATING THE  END-POINT OF THE TITRATION.
