Kelley Owens JOU 4368 – Current Event #1 September 1 st , 2010 In the online version of The New York Times , there is an article titled “A Regular-Guy Approach to Entice Men to Shop for Jeans.” In this article, Lee Jeans has hired Mike Rowe, creator and star of the Discovery Channel TV show "Dirty Jobs," to encourage consumers to purchase their latest product while the economy seems to be going down hill again. The product that Rowe will be the spokesman for is Lee Premium Select, a line of men’s denim. Mr. Rowe will be involved in all features of the project. There will be television commercials, print advertisements and efforts in social media like Facebook and Twitter. Lee Jeans is among numerous clothing brands that are trying to challenge the apprehension that shoppers have as data begins to indicate that the recovery from the fall of the economy may not be doing so well.
