Ryan Oprea UCSC Econ 200, Fall 2009 Microeconomic Analysis This course is an introduction to microeconomic theory, a set of tools for modeling, predicting and evaluating market behavior. The course will be focused on problem solving and application and therefore a lot of the course will treat microeconomics as a set of analytical techniques rather than a set of conclusions. The core of the course will be a set of problem sets that will allow you to learn, by experience, how to apply the techniques taught in class. The course assumes a level of competency in mathematics at the level of Econ 186 and assumes you have a foundation in intermediate microeconomics at the level of Econ 100A. The course website, at http://people.ucsc.edu/ roprea/econ200.html will host homework sets, lecture notes and other materials for the class. The class will meet from 8:00 - 9:45 on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Hum and Soc Sci 250. I will host office hours in 415 Engineering 2 from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesdays.
