ACCT 2000: SURVEY OF ACCOUNTING SPRING 2010 SYLLABUS INSTRUCTOR: David M Anderson, MBA CPA email : [email protected] Office : 3108 CEBA (Patrick F Taylor Hall) Phone : 278- 8575 Office Hours : 12:00 – 1:30 TTh and by appointment Prerequisites: None Course Description/Objectives: The course has been designed specifically for nonbusiness majors and business minors. It is a true ‘survey’ course, introducing students to several fields of accounting: Financial accounting with emphasis on understanding financial statements; Managerial accounting with emphasis on cost volume profit analysis and cost terminology; and Income taxation with emphasis on individual income tax laws. Texts: Accounting, What the Numbers Mean by David H. Marshall, 8th edition, 2008, McGraw Hill ( required ). You may purchase either the hardback regular version or the softback condensed version of the textbook. PAWS: Additional course materials will also be available on Moodle. Attendance: Due to the size of the class, attendance records will not be maintained; however, there is a direct correlation between success in the course and student attendance. Also, students are responsible for all announcements made in class or on Semester Book. Grading:
