MAE 3780 MECHATRONICS FALL 2009 1 HOMEWORK 1 DUE: 9/7/08 PROBLEMS: 1) Build a 100 resistor from the following supplies in your lab toolbox: 50 resistors or 200 resistors and a bunch of 1k resistors. 2) Use Kirchoff’s laws and derive the voltage divider circuit for 1/3 of the voltage using three equal resistors. 3) Use Kirchoff’s laws and derive the current divider circuit for 2/3 of the supply value using three equal resistances. 4) The resistance in the figure, R2, is equal to 2 k Ω. What is the output voltage,Vout, across R1, when its resistance is 1 k ? What changes in the circuit when R1 becomes 100 k Ω? 5) What is the voltage, Vout and the current through the resistor, when the switch is open or closed and when Vs = 10 V, I = 2 A, and R=5 k Ω? a) b) 6) Find the voltage across R2 and R4 and the power generated by the supply. Find the energy balance for the system where Vs= 15 V and R1=R3=100 R2=R2=200 Ω.
