Physics 121 Vectors and Statistics Name Date Section T.A. name Abstract: The goal of this lab was to find the forces and torque in two different scenarios. In the first experiment we used pulleys at different angles with weights attached to them. The objective was to find how much weight needed to be added to the third pulley to balance out the forces. We then calculated the standard deviation for the angle and weight of the pulley: θ = 273°±3° and M 3 = 165g±6g. Next we took a ruler and set an off center balancing point on it and found out how far a weight had to be on the other side to balance it out. We then found the torque for the hanger and the ruler. Objective: The purpose of this experiment was to find the amount of force and torque needed to balance the pulleys and a ruler.
