Legislation Legacy I read an article in the Indian Country Today on the impacts of the new health care reform and the impact this will have on the Native American community as a whole. Native Americans have a much higher instance of uninsured individuals. The current medical provider which oversees the Native Americans “IHS” will be considered as an acceptable health care provider. Sebeliius also stated the Native Americans will not be faced with the same penalties for not paying for insurance as the rest of the nation. The Obama administration has increased the budget for the Native Americans health care

The Obama administration is very adamant about standing by their word and signatures within the treaty agreements made many years ago. Congress stated first things first, how can we reform health care for the whole nation when we have failed to reform health care for the first americans?
