John Rockefeller has been dubbed the richest man in history. Rockefeller was born July 8, 1839. In 1859 he formed a Partnership with Maurice Clark. In 1863 Rockefeller and Clark ventured into the oil refinery business. Samuel Andrews joined the company with Rockefeller, and Clark. Just two years later Rockefeller bought out his partners, and formed Rockafeller and Andrews. In 1864 Rockefeller married a school teacher, and ultimatly had 5 children. In 1870 Rockefeller founded the Standard Oil Company with the help of several others. By 1872 Standard Oil was in control of all the refineries in Ohio, and several in New York. In 1896 The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that Standard Oil had violated anti-trust laws and therefore must dissolve the company into individual entities. The 38 companies were seperated and made into
