The Real Rosies 2 During World War II many men who were working within the numerous industries were sent to war. This left many positions still needing to be filled. The only problem is that someone has to fill these many positions. Women officially entered the industrial side of the workforce. These women were given the name Rosie the Riveter. Rosies were doing work that until that time been considered mens work. The items being produced, had changedduring the course of the war. The Rosies were now welding parts, creating bombers, and assembling fighter jets. The Rosies were significant to American culture because these women proved that they were just as capable of doing these difficult jobs just as the men were. The Rosies had successfully blended the gender threshold in the workforce, paving the way for future
